Trophy Oars 
Hi I have a rowing oar , I am unsure if it is a trophy oar . Are you able to tell me more about it please . On it , it has various impressed wording . It is 12 feet long , on it it reads ” records ” – university boat race , grand challenge cup , ladies plate , princess Elizabeth challenge cup , stewards cup , and “another” cup which I can’t make out , it is then dated 22 Nov 1956 . It is also stamped Aylings patent reinforced back and stamped on the brass ring it reads Putney London and also E Aylings & sons Putney London . There is another area on the par which reads ” E Aylings and Sons led edt 1859 , and then it reads , gold medalists London Paris Melbourne , Riverside Putney London , plain tubular , Henley Regatta 1956 , ladies plate , stewards cup , victory cup , wyfold cup , silver goblets , diamond sculls . There is also a large number 4 , in red . Could you please tell me if you think this is s trophy oat , I can send photos if you need them , kind regards , Steve

it certainly sounds like a trophy oar, but the format is a little unusual as it is not celebrating one event but is more a summary of a successful season.
